Corby Black Lives Matter protest attracts hundreds to peaceful gathering

The gathering was part of the global response to the death of George Floyd in the US

Hundreds of people gathered in James Ashworth VC Square, Corby for a Black Lives Matter protest today (Saturday, June 20).

Corby residents spoke of their experiences as people of colour living in the town before the crowd took part in an eight-minute kneel at the end of the event.

Chalk markings reminded protestors to keep their distance because of the Covid pandemic.

Chants of 'No Just - No Peace' and 'Black Lives Matter' were repeated during the two and a half hour meeting outside the Corby Cube.
