More than ten bags of rubbish were cleared during a community litter pick in the Brambleside area of Kettering.

Local residents joined forces with Conservative councillors Ash Davies, Lesley Thurland and Greg Titcombe to pick litter on October 4, clearing areas such as the shopping precinct and woods surrounding the community.

It is the latest in a series of community litter picks organised by Keep Kettering Tidy, local councillors and other like-minded community groups and the area is now looking much tidier thanks to the community team effort.

Cllr Davies said: “It is always good to join forces with local residents and help to tidy our community.

"Brambleside is now looking much cleaner and it has been lovely to receive kind comments from local residents thanking everyone for giving up their time to pick litter.

“If residents elsewhere in Brambleside or All Saints Wards wish to arrange another litter pick, they are very welcome to get in touch with myself or colleagues - we will be very happy to assist.”

Brambleside Community Association (BCA) has also announced their upcoming Halloween fancy dress competition scheduled for October 31.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s Party in the Park will not be going ahead and instead the committee have decided to celebrate their 20th anniversary by organising a socially-distanced, fun competition to celebrate Halloween.

The people of Brambleside are invited to dust out their funkiest, most spooktacular costumes ready for Halloween on October 31. To enter the competition, take a photo of you or your family dressed up, submit your photo through the Brambleside Community Association Facebook page, after which all of the photos received will be posted along with a vote where people get to decide their winner.

You don’t have to live in Brambleside to enter.

Brambleside Community Association are also calling for volunteers to join their committee for a few hours each month to help organise future events such as these and help to give back to their local community. Find out more by visiting and the BCA Facebook page at www.facebook.com/bramblesideca
