Christmas and New Year bin collection dates for Corby, Kettering, East Northants and Wellingborough areas

Bin days may be different over the Christmas and New Year period in the Corby, Kettering, East Northants and Wellingborough areas.

With Christmas Day and New Year’s Day falling on a Thursday and the Boxing Day bank holiday on a Friday, households face changes to the collection schedule.

The last garden waste collection will be on Friday, December 19, 2025 with the service resuming from Monday, January 5, 2026.

Remember, your bin needs to be out by 6.30am on the day of collection and you can put it out the night before if easier!

Anyone with extra general refuse will not be accepted unless it is inside a bin – not left at the side.

A spokesman for North Northants Council said: “Please take any excess waste to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre for disposal.

“You can present any extra clean, dry and loose recycling in an open cardboard box if the weather permits this. Alternatively, use a clear plastic bag next to the bin. Excess cardboard must be flattened and stacked neatly against the recycling bin if the weather permits this.

“Polystyrene can't be recycled.

“If you have a subscription, Christmas trees can be chopped up and placed in your garden waste bin. Alternatively they can be taken to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.”
