Warts And All Theatre has had a cash boost

The Warts and All Theatre has received £76,452 from Arts Council England.

The cash will be used for an organisation development project from 2020 – 2021, supporting company growth and enabling them to continue their work across Northampton, Wellingborough and Coventry.

Warts and All Theatre’s artistic director and CEO Christopher Elmer-Gorry said: "We are extremely happy that Arts Council England has recognised all of our success over the first three years.

"For us it’s a real achievement that they see us as a viable arts organisation, which is worthy of such investment for the next stage of our journey.

"This grant will categorically enable us to step change our work.

"It’s also a credit to the artists and participants that have worked with us over the first three years, to make our work a reality.

"The grant will allow us the time and resource to prioritise our sustainability.

"We look forward to working with other funders and stake holders to realise all of the ambitious plans across the two years."

The project will enable the company to reflect and evaluate the success of the first three years, develop the business and artistic processes and demonstrate how their output is aligned with the 10-year plan for Arts Council England.

The funding will also support the company to deliver activity with partner organisations in each area including their annual Young Artists’ Festival, which will be in partnership with Made in Corby and Wellingborough in July 2020.

Warts and All Theatre will also work with consultants The Audience Agency and People Make it Work, to develop their strategy to continue engaging those that wouldn’t ordinarily engage in arts and culture.

Warts and All Theatre delivers ambitious programmes, projects and productions across all three sites that they operate.

There are no auditions to join, and there are bursary places available for participants from disadvantaged backgrounds, where the fee might stop them from joining.
