Cars abandoned amid dicey driving conditions as snow falls over north Northants

Heavy snowfall has hit the north of the county this lunchtime.

Snow hit Corby, East Northants, Wellingborough and Kettering around midday, catching out many drivers.

Several cars were abandoned on steeper roads including these on the A6003 at Rockingham Hill and the Highways Agency was called to incidents on the A43.

A Highways Agency statement at noon said: “We are currently dealing with multiple incidents on the A43 in Northamptonshire.

“We have numerous resources working with our recovery operators to clear vehicles that have been abandoned or stranded. Please check weather/traffic conditions before your essential journey.”

Driving conditions remain treacherous as snow is forecast to continue this afternoon.
