A charity manager is on a mission to set up a fundraising committee in Kettering - but she needs your help to achieve it.

Macmillan relies almost entirely on donations and cannot be there for the 24,000 people living with and beyond cancer in Northamptonshire without the public's support.

The donations that Macmillan receive help fund services in the area, such as the new Macmillan Information Centre which is currently planned at Kettering General Hospital.

Macmillan's regional fundraising manager for Northamptonshire, Sally Redmond, is looking to set up fundraising groups in the area and a Kettering committee to help with this.

She said: “Being part of a committee is a really fun and sociable way to help raise money for charity. "We have established committees up and down the county and have a number in Northamptonshire and Warwickshire who put on some extraordinary events and raise lots of money for Macmillan.

"However, we have no committees in the Kettering area and I would love to change this.

"The time commitment is completely down to the individual. Having a young family and full-time job myself, I do understand that spare time is precious. Just by giving a couple of hours a month you can make a huge difference."

The town has two Macmillan nurses with beauty advisers and pharmacists and in 2018 alone the Macmillan 'Biggest Coffee Mornings' held in Kettering raised a staggering £26,700.

Sally said it's clear that Macmillan is close to many hearts in the area.

She added: "It costs £29 per hour to fund a Macmillan nurse so the more fundraising, volunteering and committees we have, the better!"
