A bulky waste amnesty due to take place in Irthlingborough has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

People in Irthlingborough had been invited to dispose of any unwanted items at the event on Saturday, March 21.

East Northamptonshire Council (ENC) had partnered with Irthlingborough Town Council, Longhurst Group, Northants Police, Orbit, Grand Union Housing Group and The Co-Operative Central England to encourage residents to clear out their houses and gardens of general waste, white goods and scrap metal.

Two sessions had been organised at the Allen Road car park and the car park of Crow Hill Community Centre, but both have now been called off.

A spokesman for East Northants Council said: "We wanted to advise that the Irthlingborough waste amnesty event due to take place on 21 March will be postponed until further notice."
