The Rex's 'spokesperson' said: "I have always wanted to dress up as a dinosaur. I had seen the outfit before and it's so funny.

"After we went into lockdown, I thought 'Why not?'"

Having bought the costume, the Rex decided to head to the local Co-op one evening for a ready-meal.

They said: "It's like pre-historic PPE.

"It took off from there, somebody commented on Facebook and as I came back there were people waving.

"People have said thanks for making our day."

The Broughton Rex is now even getting requests to visit certain streets so people can see the dinosaur. The Rex has been happy to oblige and went to a street so a 94-year-old lady could see the pre-historic creature.

The dinosaur is wondering about heading to Tesco next, but is worried shopping with such little arms will be difficult.

For now, the Rex is keeping their real identity a secret and is enjoying the speculation.

"It's quite funny," the Rex's spokesman said, "I just wanted to be a T-Rex. It's just a bit of fun and if it makes people happy and cheers them up then that's great."
