Barrier installed in Wellingborough estate after 'safety concerns' stem from parking on green space
A wood barrier stopping cars from parking on a Wellingborough green space has been installed after safety concerns were raised by residents.
Directly outside of homes on Shelley Road in Wellingborough, motorists had taken to parking on the grass, an area used by children to play in the warmer months.
As such, it became an increasing safety issue, and wasdifficult for the local team to maintain.
Steve Steers, estates services manager, at Greatwell Homes said: “This is a great example of how listening to our customers can make a positive contribution to their

neighbourhoods.
“Although small, this improvement has not only increased the safety of the area but has also improved the appearance of the grass allowing us to keep the area well maintained in the future.”
The knee-high barrier installed by Intercounty Ltd around the front of the recreational green stopping cars from using it for parking.
Parking remains available at the front of the green, and since the installation of the barrier, the grass has started to re-grow.

The barrier is part of Greatwell Homes’ Your Great Spaces’ project, which includes a new communal garden in Earls Barton, and the Burns Road playground, the latter was vandalised just two weeks after it opened last month.
