Armed police in emergency call to Finedon street after loud 'bang'

A 'loud bang' sparked a police investigation in a quiet Finedon street last night (Sunday).
Neighbours in Allen Road have told this newspaper that they saw armed police in the road outside a property and police cars in the street just before 10pm.

Hide AdOne resident, who did not wish to be named, said they were woken by a loud bang.
They said: "It was between 9pm and 10pm. It woke me up. There were five to six police cars outside and armed response officers with guns.
"They kept walking back and forth. I wasn't scared because I knew the police would be here in seconds. They are always here.
"I thought the loud bang was just teenagers letting off fireworks."

Hide AdOther residents were also disturbed by the noise and were shocked at what they saw. One visitor to the street was checking on elderly parents.
They said: "When they heard a bang they got up to investigate. There were armed police, and police dogs. I think it shook them up a little bit."
Residents took to Facebook to discuss what they had heard, describing seeing forensics officers on the scene of a house.
One resident said: "Some people say it was a gunshot, others say it was a firework. There have been quite a few problems in the area. Police are always at the house."
