The coffee chain has been revealed as the operator for a drive-thru coffee unit at a new petrol station proposed for the site in John Clark Way.

Outline planning permission was granted last July, but an application for reserved matters including landscaping, appearance and layout was refused in October.

A revised reserved matters application has since been submitted to East Northants Council, and if approved, it is hoped works could start on site just off the A6 roundabout in the first quarter of this year.

Applicant Euro Garages says the proposal would be a multi-million pound investment which would bring jobs to the area and provide high quality road-side services.

The drive-thru coffee unit would be one of the first new design concepts for Starbucks, which already has a branch at Rushden Lakes, to be delivered anywhere in the UK.

Documents submitted as part of the revised application say: "The application site is vacant, undeveloped and unsightly.

"It makes no meaningful contribution whatsoever in landscape and visual amenity terms.

"In fact, unless development proposals for this location are non-realised, given the planned housing growth to both the north and east of the site, there is a real risk the site could continue to remain undeveloped for many years to come."

The plans for the proposed site include 38 car parking spaces.
