Anglian Water have opened their priority services register up to people self-isolating to make sure customers can get any support they need.

The east of England water company's priority services register offers customers help and support with things like reading the water meter, a knock and wait service where Anglian Water will wait longer for the door to be answered and identity confirmation to give reassurance from bogus callers.

On their website, Anglian Water said: "For those self-isolating from coronavirus due to an age or an underlying health condition or those identified as one of the high-risk groups we’d encourage you to join our Priority Services Register, part of our WaterCare service.

"We can support you with the help you may need."

Other help being offered is financial.

Anglian Water said: "We know many people are worrying about their finances right now and with the coronavirus it’s a worrying time for many.

"If you think you will have difficulty paying, please take a look at the extra care within our WaterCare service on our website and we will do what we can to help."

Anglian Water also reassured customers that essential operations will be continuing and following guidelines on social distancing.

The company will be limiting direct contact with customers unless it is an emergency.

Anglian Water's priority service for anyone self-isolating has previously been open for anyone needing support for a whole range of reasons.

People who can sign up include those with children under 12 or expecting babies; people with sight, hearing or speech impairments, restricted mobility or other disability; people with serious or long-term illness; people with mental health issues; carers, and anyone who needs temporary support from changes in their life, like bereavement, divorce, job loss or medical treatment.

There is also support available for those who need help managing their accounts. You can also nominate a relative, friend or carer to be Anglian Water's first point of contact and receive bills on your behalf.

You can sign up for priority service support here.
