The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for snow between 3pm and midnight and a yellow warning for ice from midnight until 11am warning that icy patches 'will likely cause some travel disruption'.
Pedestrians have also been warned of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
Northamptonshire Highways had been out in the early hours of Sunday morning gritting routes.

"We grit 43 per cent of the network and have 20 routes. Please drive carefully and never assume a road is gritted."
The Met Office also encouraged to clear paths. They said: "Don't be put off clearing paths because you're afraid someone will get injured. Remember, people walking on snow and ice have a responsibility to be careful themselves.
"Make sure you clear the pathway safely and effectively. And don't believe the myths - it's unlikely you'll be sued or held legally responsible for any injuries if you have cleared the path carefully."
