Pair rescued after vehicle gets stuck in flood water in East Northants village

Firefighters helped rescue a man and a woman after their vehicle became stranded in flood water.
Crews from Oundle, Raunds and the specialist water rescue team from Wellingborough attended the incident in Aldwincle yesterday (Monday).

Hide AdA spokesman for Northants Fire and Rescue Service said: "This happened in Thorpe Road, Aldwincle, yesterday at about 3.20pm when a Mitsubishi Lancer got stuck in flood water.


"Inside were a man and a woman.
"They were rescued by the fire service who pulled them out using a Unimog."
A unimog is a truck which can be used in situations like this due to its off-road capabilities.
A tweet from Northants Fire following the rescue said: "Casualties left on safe ground awaiting car recovery."
