The Post Office is proposing to re-open Corby Post Office at unit 15 in New Post Office Square, Corby.

It comes after Corby Post Office closed on January 23 when the Co-op store in Alexandra Road, where the branch was located, stopped trading.

If this proposal gets the go-ahead, it would be a modern main-style branch where Post Office services would be provided from four Post Office serving positions.

This would be a mixture of one full-screened, two open-plan counters and a Post Office serving point at the retail counter.

Corby Post Office would operate during the proposed shop’s opening hours of Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5.30pm.

Regional manager Julia Marwood said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Corby.

“We have received an application from a candidate who wishes to operate the branch on our behalf.

“Subject to a successful appointment, the applicant plans to incorporate the Post Office service into their planned new store, where they would provide the same wide range of Post Office products as the previous service.”

The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.

During the public consultation, Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal.

The consultation will close on March 16.
