Police have revealed a 72-year-old motorbike rider was killed in a smash on the Bedford Road near Northampton on Friday afternoon.

The rider's 1,000cc Yamaha FZS was in collision with a Jaguar F-Pace heading in the same direction towards Northampton close to the Little Houghton turn.

Northamptonshire's Serious Collision Investigations Unit are looking into the cause of the fatal crash and are appealing for witnesses.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "At about 2.20pm on Friday, May 15, a blue Yamaha FZS 1000 motorcycle travelling towards Northampton was in collision with a grey Jaguar F-Pace travelling the same way.

"Sadly, the rider of the motorcycle, a 72-year-old man, died at the scene.

"Our Serious Collision Investigations Unit are asking for anyone who witnessed the collision, or may have dashcam footage which would help us to cal llthe Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615 using incident number 20000246657."
