Members of Wellingborough Council met yesterday (Tuesday) for their first full council meeting since his death and the meeting at Swanspool House started with everyone in the council chamber being asked to stand for a minute’s silence in honour of Cllr Bailey.

A card in Cllr Bailey’s memory was placed on the front bench where the councillor, who had 49 years of continuous service, used to sit.

After the meeting, Cllr Lora Lawman tweeted: “As John shared the front bench with me, it felt odd not having our old friend there, giving fatherly advice.”
