Man dies at the scene of fatal collision between lorry and pedestrian on the M1 near Northamptonshire

Emergency services have confirmed that a man in his 60s died at the scene of a collision on the M1 earlier this morning (April 9).The collision between a lorry and a pedestrian took place at 6.34am near junction 19 of the M1 northbound.

It was confirmed that the pedestrian, a man in his 60s, died at the scene and his family have since been informed.

Detective Constable John Borlase, from Leicestershire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man has sadly died in this collision. We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident including speaking to people at the scene.

“Anyone who was driving in the area this morning and who has any information which could help our enquiries should get in touch if you have not already done so. If you have any dashcam footage which could assist us, you should also make contact.”

Enquiries currently remain ongoing at the scene and the M1 northbound between junctions 19 (Catthorpe) and 20 (Market Harborough) are likely to remain closed throughout the morning to allow initial enquiries to be completed.

Traffic is being diverted through the hollow circle route.
