Current names on plaques include Charles Wicksteed, Sir Alfred Edward East, Frank Bellamy, Anthony Ireson, William Knibb, J L Carr, Thomas Gotch and John Gotch.

This year the society will be putting three more plaques around the town, to mark The Great Meeting (sponsored by former councillor Larry Henson), H E Bates and the 160th anniversary of the opening of Kettering Railway Station.

It hopes to put up even more - but funds are required to do so.

Plaques can be sponsored or those wishing to contribute can join the society’s 100 club, or join the society for a £15 annual subscription.

There will also be an opportunity to raise funds when Jaqueline Putchler gives a talk on H E Bates on Wednesday, March 8, at Wicksteed Park’s Celebration Suite. Tickets are available from Waterstones in Kettering.
