Thorndale care home and Beech Close care home, which are owned by Shaw healthcare, celebrated the milestone last Thursday (April 21) with friends, family and residents.

Before the party at Thorndale, residents were urged to lend any royal memorabilia they had to help create an impressive display of classic items.

Certain lucky residents were also the winners of a royal themed raffle, which auctioned off items such as a commemorative jigsaw and a bulldog keyring.

The Mayor of Kettering, Cllr June Derbyshire, also visited to join in the fun.

In Beech Close, staff were encouraged to dress up as famous British figures such as Queen Victoria and regular singer Richard Deveroux also joined in the celebrations to perform songs from the residents past.

Laura White, manager of Thorndale care home, said: “Plenty of our residents have had a close bond with the Queen over the years, so it wasn’t surprising to receive such a wide array of memorabilia to display throughout the home.

“The mannequin of the Queen was the icing on the cake.”
