John Lewis Milton Keynes suspends click and collect services

Waterstones stopped its own click and collect service at the start of the third national lockdown on January 4 to help limit the spread of the coronavirus.

John Lewis' click and collect service closed yesterday evening on Tuesday January 12. The store will honour existing orders which can be collected from department stores and Waitrose supermarkets.

Waitrose, which comes under the John Lewis Partnership umbrella, has tightened its protocols on face coverings in line with other recent supermarket announcements of stricter restrictions.

The Telegraph reported on January 11 that ministers were discussing proposals that would see click and collect options suspended for all retailers, excluding only supermarkets and 'essential retail' stores.

Andrew Murphy, Executive Director, Operations at John Lewis said: "We've listened carefully to the clear change in tone and emphasis of the views shared by the UK's government in recent days.

"While we recognise that the detail of the formal guidance has not changed, we feel it is right for us - and in the best interests of our partners and customers - to take proactive steps to further enhance our covid-security and related operational policies."
