Higham Ferrers siblings raise £3,000 for Cancer Research with 13,000ft skydive

Two Higham Ferrers siblings have raised more than £3,000 for Cancer Research after jumping out of a plane from 13,000ft.

Taylor Staines, 18, and her brother Oliver, 16, carried out the daredevil jump on Sunday (May 8).

The pair, who both attend The Ferrers School, decided to raise money for charity after their uncle Lee Eggleton, 45, was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer – and their dad Stuart couldn’t be prouder.

He said: “It was a very emotional day and to raise £3,000 is amazing.

“They were both very excited and I think the adrenaline rush was the be-all and end-all of it.

“We are very proud and the amount they raised was beyond all our wildest dreams.

“Every penny we can raise for them will go a very, very long way to helping those that need support.”

The siblings’ uncle watched them take on the jump and was proud of their feat.

Stuart added: “Lee was there and it was very emotional.

“He’s very proud at what they’ve achieved.

“Cancer Research have been brilliant and they were blown away by the amount.

“A big thanks must go to the Peterborough UK skydiving team.”
