Pupils from Gretton Primary School were recently presented with certificates for taking part in the Park and Stride scheme which promotes safe walking to school.

The initiative saw teachers, the rural safety communities team and the neighbourhood management team from Corby Council encouraging parents to drop their children off at the village hall to walk to school together.

PC Mark Walker from Northants Police said: “Parents were able to drop their children off at a designated location knowing their children would be escorted to school, effectively freeing up congestion in the area and, more importantly, keeping the children safe, because parking outside a school can obviously cause a problem as a safety issue.”
