Grant givers reach a milestone

The Rockin Roadrunners and Hollowell Scullers are two of the many groups to have received a foundation grant

The grant-giving charity provided insights and highlights into the value that donations and grants are making to communities in the county.

The event held at the Errol Flynn Cinema in Northampton provided an opportunity for guests to hear about the key areas identified in the review.

Community groups and charities have been able to actively support people such as those working with vulnerable people and families, getting people back into education and training, getting people healthy and active, volunteering, improving the environment and making arts, culture and heritage accessible for  all.

Foundation chief executive Victoria Miles said: “We are one of 48 community foundations in the UK and we are celebrating our 15th year.

“Since our inception we have raised £9m in endowment and supported 2,500 groups.

“During 2014-15, through donations and grants awarded, we enabled local groups and charities to support 128,896 people.

“We are here to stay and we need more people to know about us and support the causes they care about that help to build thriving communities in our county.”

Grants director Rachel McGrath said: ‘The review identifies key areas in which community groups and charities have been able to actively support people and the difference they have made to beneficiaries’ lives.

“By capturing this information we are better able to demonstrate the value of awarded projects and communicate this to current and potential donors and the wider community.”
