Fundraising under way for Wellingborough boy who suffered leukaemia relapse

Jack Warboys, nine, was diagnosed with T-Cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in March 2014 but relapsed after a year of responding well to treatment.

This left him requiring a bone marrow transplant, and as a result of the treatment his mobility has been hugely affected.

And now family friend Karen Rogers says Jack’s family are hoping to raise £3,000 to provide a wet room to maintain his independence.

She said: “Jack is one of eight siblings and, although rare, two of his siblings, 17-year-old Lewis and 14-year-old Charlotte, were found to be matches for him.

“His brother, being older than his sister, was chosen to donate his bone marrow and the bone marrow transplant took place in June 2015.

“As a result of the cancer treatment of chemotherapy and radiotherapy Jack’s mobility has been greatly affected, meaning that he struggles to climb in and out of the bath at his family home.

“To help Jack maintain his independence the family are wanting to get the bathroom adapted into a wet room.

“They have currently been quoted £3,000 to make this happen.

“This is a lot of money for them to find on top of the already extra expenses that living with cancer costs.”
