Dan Burns, head of Tresham Academy of Sport, said: “We are delighted that Jon is joining us at Tresham College to take charge of the rugby academy and provide our students with expert coaching and support.

“Not only does he have the knowledge and experience to help our student players develop in their rugby, he also understands the importance of education to a young rugby player’s future progression.

“We are excited to see rugby at Tresham College thrive under Jon’s guidance.”

Jon Phillips said: “I am excited to be joining Tresham College and looking forward to getting stuck in with the rugby academy students and helping them to improve both on and off the field.

“Tresham College has a great reputation for providing excellent opportunities for all levels of players and keeping them in the game with close links to the local clubs.

“Working with clubs and keeping players in the game is something I am particularly passionate about, and I hope to continue the great work that Tresham College has started.”

Tresham College Rugby Academy is based at the Kettering Campus.

Students who study sports courses gain full access to weekly training sessions and match days in regional and national competitions as part of their program.

Pupils studying other subjects can also access the rugby academy depending on their timetable allocation.

Students are still able to join the rugby academy for this academic year and any enquiries should be directed to customer services or the sports department.
