Flying medics called to treat patient in Wellingborough

An air ambulance was called out to treat a patient in Wellingborough today (Wednesday).

The Magpas air ambulance landed in the park just off Kilborn Road in the town this morning.

Two paramedic cars and an EMAS ambulance crew were also in attendance.

A spokesman for Magpas said: "Earlier today, Magpas doctor Vijayasankar and critical care paramedic Dan Phillips landed in Wellingborough via the Magpas air ambulance, they had been called to treat a patient who was suffering a medical emergency.

"The helicopter crew who flew the Magpas advanced medical team were pilot Chris Sherriff and technical crew member George Phillips."

A spokesman for EMAS said: "We received a call at 11.33am on Wednesday 5 August to a private address in Wellingborough to assist with a medical emergency.

"We sent two paramedics in two ambulance cars, a crewed ambulance and the air ambulance was also in attendance."

However, Northants Police have confirmed this afternoon (2.30pm) that they also attended as this was a sudden death.

A spokesman for the force said: "We were called to reports of a sudden death in Torrington Road just before 1pm.

"We’re not treating the death as suspicious and we are preparing a report for the coroner."
