Finger-tip search underway in Kettering street as detectives on scene of 'serious assault'

Northamptonshire Police officers are still at the scene in Kettering of a 'serious assault' that occurred last night with a major investigation launched into the incident.

Detectives were on the scene in Princes Street as officers took part in a line search in the road looking for evidence amongst tightly packed terraced street.

Police have taped off the section of the street at the junction of Wellington Street to investigate the serious assault that happened at around 10.45pm last night (February 13).

An area behind a newer row of housesin Wellington Street has also been sectioned off to allow for investigation work.

A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "I stuck my head out of the window last night after 10pm and saw the blue flashing lights but I didn't hear anything before that.

"Unfortunately, it's not that usual for that sort of thing around here."

Police remain on the scene.
