Storm Dennis is forecast to bring high winds to Northamptonshire this weekend, just a week after Storm Ciara ripped through the UK.

There is a Met Office yellow alert for high winds from 10am today (Saturday) to midnight on Sunday.

There are forecasts for 50mph-plus gusts and heavy rain, which could cause flooding in areas already waterlogged from last weekend.

Several Northamptonshire businesses have announced closures or restrictions to their services this weekend due to the weather warnings.

The Corporation Street outdoor market in Corby will be closed today.

Willow Place and Corby Town Shopping wrote on Twitter: "We are sorry to announce that due to the extremely high winds forecast for Saturday, February 15, we have made the difficult decision to close the Corporation Street outdoor market for the day. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause."

Also closed for the afternoon is Corby Ice-Rink. The rink said based on current weather forecasts, it will close from midday today and re-open tomorrow (Sunday) at 10am. It will be open every day of the half-term holiday.

Deene Park has cancelled their Sundays Snowdrop open day tomorrow due to Storm Dennis and said: "The health and safety of our visitors and staff is of the utmost priority to us."

Corby's East Carlton Country Park has warned visitors not to walk through the woodlands in case of any falling trees in the high winds.

Fineshade Wood has warned that its team will be closely monitoring the weather and will close the wood if necessary on Saturday.

It added the car parks will be closed and locked when the wood closes today (Saturday) and would only re-open once safety checks have been completed.

Rushden Lakes announced yesterday that the Leisure Terrace would be remaining closed until further notice due to external cladding damage caused by Storm Ciara last weekend.
