Employee escaped from Corby office block fire thanks to alarm being triggered
The worker was saved by the safety device
A person inside Corby Business Centre was able to escape after the building’s smoke alarm system alerted them to the blaze.
Eight fire crews attended a large blaze at an office block in Corby on Thursday (June 12).
Crews arrived at Margarethe House in Eismann Way at 10:50pm and firefighters were deployed inside wearing breathing apparatus as others tackled the fire from outside through a first floor window.

The block is home to a number of small businesses.
Incident Commander Dan Retter said: “The fire alarm gave vital early warning to the occupant allowing them to safely exit the building.
“This really emphasises the importance of testing your smoke alarms, be that in a commercial or domestic premises.
“The incident yet again shows that smoke alarms really do save lives.”
Fire safety specialists and a fire investigator are supporting the business and the cause is under investigation.
