Emergency services at Corby Boating Lake after car plunges into water

Emergency services are on the scene of an incident at Corby Boating Lake in Cottingham Road after a car entered the water.

Around 20 search and rescue workers are on the scene after the car plunged into the water on the Westcott Way inlet side of the lake where trees have recently been removed.

Specialist water rescue teams are at the scene, alongside paramedics and police.

A spokesman for Northants Police said: "We are currently dealing with an incident alongside our colleagues at NFRS (Northants Fire and Rescue Service) and EMAS (East Midlands Ambulance Service) involving a silver car having gone into the Corby boating lake at about 10.15am.

"We are working to safely remove the man and woman inside the car.

"The incident is still ongoing. The road is closed at the Cottingham Road end."
