Rushden fire next to block of flats believed to have been started deliberately
A bin store fire next to a block of flats in Rushden is believed to have been started deliberately.
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) was called to reports of a fire in Aspen Close in the town just before 12.15am this morning (Wednesday, June 17).
A spokesman for NFRS told the Northants Telegraph: “Crews from Wellingborough arrived to find a bin store, attached to a block of flats, on fire.
"The fire had spread to the ceiling and electrics in the communal area of the flats so firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish it.

"Once the fire was out, crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots and positive pressure ventilation to clear smoke from the building.”
Firefighters left the scene shortly after 1.30am this morning.
People living nearby reported being woken up by the fumes and described the area as ‘extremely smoky.’
The fire service spokesman added: “The fire is believed to have been started deliberately, pending a fire investigation.”
