A grenade found in Kettering has led to a road closure with the bomb team at the scene.
The grenade was discovered by a member of the public shortly after 9.20am today (Thursday, November 13).
A spokesman for Northants Police said: “Lake Avenue in Kettering is currently closed to both pedestrians and vehicles after a member of the public found a grenade in the brook while magnet fishing earlier today.
"The EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) has been informed and are on route to the scene, however we would like to reassure the local community that there is no risk to the wider public.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding. We will of course, provide an update once the situation has been resolved.”
Police have now confirmed that Lake Avenue re-opened just after 12.15pm today, with a force spokesman adding: “The EOD removed the grenade from the location and carried out a controlled detonation in a safe and secure environment.
