Eastenders star Cheryl Fergison launches Kettering pantomime

There was plenty of cheers and booing as this year's pantomime at the Lighthouse Theatre in Kettering was launched today (Wednesday)

Best known for playing Heather Trott in Eastenders, Cheryl Fergison stars as the evil Malevolent in Beauty and the Beast coming to the stage over the festive period.

The show put on by Jordan Productions comes to Kettering from Saturday December 10 to Monday January 2.

The launch for VIPs saw the cast inroduced to the audience some of whom gave a musical performance or a comedy routine which will feature in this year’s production.

After hitting our screens in Albert Square back in 2007, Hev quickly became a national treasure.

Brutally murdered by Ben Mitchell in 2012, she holds a special place in soap history and millions of viewers’ hearts.

Since leaving EastEnders, Cheryl has braved the domestic horror of Celebrity Big Brother and put the world to rights as a guest panellist on Loose Women, as well as starring in BBC’s Big School in 2014.

It will also be a return for the star who performed at the venue a few weeks ago in Menopause The Musical

“I am the wicked witch who turns the prince into the best. She’s a little jealous, she can’t have what she wants, she can’t have him so no one else have him.

“Being known as the nice one in Eastenders, it is great to show people something else. It is great them to play a baddie and great to make children cry

“I’m back here and I was ill, and when I came in the crew said I was sick. It was a bug from a previous venue but still went on and collapsed afterwards. But the crew all said I was the one who was sick in the toilet.

“But it won’t happen again, I’ve had my flu jab this time.”

Also starring in the show is Mark Pearce playing Potty Pierre, Michael Neilson as Dame Dotty Derriere and Lucy Downer playing the part of Beauty. The latter lives in Kettering while Mark himself has family based in nearby Stanford.
