HIghways England expect two lanes to be closed on the A14 for some time after a van wrecked barriers on the central reservation early on Monday morning.

Three vehicles were involved in a shunt which caused major queues in both directions near Thrapston during the rush-hour.

And a spokesman for the agency says drivers should consider taking an alternative route as repairs are expected to take a few hours.

The Highways England spokesman said: "We still have one lane closed in both directions between junction 13 and junction for barrier repair and vehicle recovery.

"There are approximately four miles of congestion eastbound and two miles going west.

"Queues are likely to add at least 30 mins to usual travel times towards Kettering and Huntingdon so please plan for delays and consider an alternate route when travelling. "
