Woman's death in Rothwell not suspicious, say police

The death of a woman in Rothwell is not being treated as suspicious, police have said.

An address in Crispin Street had been taped off since Thursday when officers were called at about 1.20pm after the 49-year-old suddenly died.

Scenes of crimes officers were at the terraced house with a cordon in place while a post-mortem examination was carried out yesterday.

A 54-year-old Rothwell man was assisting police with their enquiries.

Today (Saturday) police revealed the woman's death is not being treated as suspicious but remains unexplained.

A spokesman said: "The 54-year-old man who was helping officers with their enquiries has been released with no further action.

"There is no longer a scene guard in place."
