Woman sexually assaulted in popular Rushden park

Police officers are appealing for witnesses after a sexual assault in Hall Park, Rushden.

The incident took place between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Sunday, June 7, but officers have only chosen to release details today.

The victim, a woman in her 50s, was approached by a man who asked her for directions to the taxi rank.

He then made threats towards the woman before sexually assaulting her. As she shouted for help, he ran off toward the shopping area.

The 34-acre park in the centre of town is used by hundreds of people each day. It was recently announced that CCTV in the park would be upgraded to try to combat crimeThe offender is described as white with an olive complexion, between 5ft 6in and 5ft 8in, and of a medium to large build with dark hair. He was wearing a black jacket, dark jeans and black trainers.
