Woman bitten and ‘pulled to the floor’ by large dog during alleyway attack in Northampton

A woman was bitten by a dog in Northwood Road, Northampton on Tuesday (November 17) as she walked through the alleyway in the direction of Longland Road.

The incident took place between 9.30am and 9.45am and, as she walked through the alleyway, a man walking a large dog on a lead walked towards her.

As the woman walked past him, the dog bit her on the arm and pulled her to the floor, causing injuries.

The man then pulled the dog off the woman and walked away in the direction of Northwood Road.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said: “He is described as white and in his late 40s, about 5 foot and 7inches, of a medium build and spoke with an Eastern European accent.

“He was wearing a blue hat, blue and black jacket and jeans. The dog is described as a large breed, similar to an Akita, with brown fur and white markings on its body and feet.”

A teenage boy came to the assistance of the woman and officers are appealing for him, the man with the dog, or anyone who may know the identity of the dog or its owner, to contact them.
