A woman has been charged with assault following an incident involving a pensioner at a Remembrance Day service in Northampton.

Police say two men — one in his 70s and one in his 30s — were attacked at All Saints Church at about midday on Sunday.

Caroline Tynan, 44, of Darwin Walk in the town has been charged with assault in connection with this incident.

The Rector of All Saints, Father Oliver Coss, said: "The prompt attendance and action of police officers following this incident was very much appreciated."
