A victim was left with serious injuries after he was stabbed in Wellingborough by a man who called for his attention, police have revealed.

Officers are investigating the shocking incident on Sunday, January 17, which happened when the victim was walking at the junction of Elsden Road and Whitworth Road between 3.55pm and 4.15pm.

Another unknown man called out to him to get his attention - but then attacked him and inflicted two stab wounds to his armpit area before running off.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A police spokesman said: "The suspect is described as a young white man, around 5ft 10in, with blond hair.

"He wore a grey Kappa tracksuit.

"Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101."
