Wellingborough BMX bat attackers left man with bruised face

A man has been left with bruising to his face after he was attacked with a rounders bat after two topless school-age boys asked for his phone.

The assault in Wellingborough's London Road, opposite Wrenn School, took place on May 31 at about 7.35pm.

After demanding the victim's phone they assaulted him and escaped on BMX bikes.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "This happened on May 31, 2021 at about 7.35pm when a man in his 20s was approached by two males - described as of school age - who asked for his phone.

"He refused and so they punched him in the face and hit him with a rounders bat. He received bruising to the face as a result.

"One of the males was white with no top on. The other was tanned, also with no top on. They were both on BMX bikes."
