Detectives are on the lookout for witnesses after £1,800 in cash and a stock of watches was stolen during a tea-time break-in on Friday.

Police believe the thief or thieves vaulted over a side gate before kicking in a side-door to force their way into the house in Boughton Green Road, Northampton between 3.35pm and 4.15pm.

As well as £1,600 in cash and another €200 in notes, a number of watches and two trinkets were taken.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "Our officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the Boughton Green Road area between 3.35pm and 4.15pm on Friday (July 17).

"Anyone who may have any information regarding this incident, please call us on 101 using reference number 20000366987 or, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
