Violent robbery in Northampton park sees victim beaten with baseball bats by six masked men

A young man wound up in hospital after falling victim to a horrifically brutal robbery in a Northampton park in the early hours of Saturday, April 10.

The attack took place between midnight at 2am when the victim - in his twenties - was walking near to the basketball courts in The Racecourse. It was there where he was assaulted with baseball bats by a group of up to six masked males.

The victim had his wallet taken and a silver chain was ripped from his neck. His numerous injuries ranged from serious to requiring hospital treatment as a result of the violent robbery.

It is believed that the young man's attackers then got into a van that was parked in Kettering Road and fled the area.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said: "Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may CCTV or dash cam footage of a group of males leaving the Racecourse via Kettering Road in the early hours of April 10."
