Da Silva, of Sutherland Road, drove without due care and attention in his Ford Focus from the A6003 to Little Colliers Field, just off the Oakley Hay roundabout.

And when he reached Little Colliers Field he was found in possession of a kitchen knife and taken into custody.

Earlier this week at Northampton Magistrates' Court Da Silva admitted possession of a bladed article and driving without due care and attention.

He was sentenced to a community order with 150 hours of unpaid work, which must be carried out within the next 12 months.

Da Silva must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £95, court costs of £85 and a fine of £80. He will have six points added to his licence.
