Two in custody after raid at Duston's Nationwide

Two men have been arrested after Duston's Nationwide Building Society was raided in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

There was a large police presence in Duston after the break-in, which took place at the Main Road branch near Meeting Lane between 1.30am and 1.45am.

The offenders forced entry to the building society and then fled but a police dog tracked them to a nearby location.

Two men, both aged 30 and from Northampton, were arrested and taken into custody, where they remain this evening.

One taxi driver who dropped a passenger off nearby shortly after the incident described "lots of officers running around" with multiple police cars, vans and the dog unit at the scene.
