Tesco security guard punched repeatedly by shoplifters in Kettering

A security guard at Tesco Express in London Road was repeatedly punched after he challenged a shoplifter.

A security guard at Tesco Express in London Road was punched repeatedly by a woman and man he challenged for shoplifting

The incident happened yesterday (Thursday) at about 9.30pm, when the member of staff challenged a woman who was walking out of the store with alcohol that had not been paid for.

The woman and the man she was with then punched the security guard repeatedly in the head.

The pair then made off.

A colleague of the security guard said he had blood pouring from his nose and was taken to hospital.

A police spokesman said CCTV was being reviewed.

A Tesco spokesperson said: We’re helping the police with their enquiries following an incident outside our Kettering London Road Express store yesterday.

A police spokesman said the woman is described as skinny, 4ft 11in, with dark long hair, a pasty complexion and she was wearing a white hat.

There is currently no description of the man.

Police said there have been no arrests so far but appealed for anyone with information to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101.
