Teenage girl sexually assaulted during Northampton bus journey

Detectives launched an investigation after a teenager was sexually assaulted during a bus journey in Northampton.
Officers say the girl was on the No3 Stagecoach service at Mereway when the attacker moved seats to sit closer to her then stroked and rubbed her leg three times.

Hide AdA Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The incident happened between 2.35pm and 3pm on October 28 as the teenager sat near the rear of the bus on its way to the Tesco store at Mereway.
"A man who had been sat at the back of the bus moved seats to be closer to her and stroked or rubbed her leg three times.
"There were other passengers on the bus at the time, and officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have been on board and witnessed this incident or who may have seen a man fitting his description."
Police say the man was black, believed to be aged between 40 and 50 years old, about 5ft 6in tall and of a medium to large build.

Hide AdHe was wearing a black beanie hat, black trainers, blue and black coloured faded jeans and a black knitted type jacket, which had patches on the shoulders along with dots.
Witnesses or anyone with information can call 101 using reference number 20000569938 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
A 60-year-old Northampton man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further investigations.
