A stalker who sent more than 100 messages to his victim has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Kurtis Provan, of Twyford Avenue in Raunds, was given a last chance at Northampton Magistrates' Court and slapped with a restraining order to prevent him from making further contact.

The 23-year-old admitted pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to stalking after messaging the woman more than 100 times over a period in July.

Provan, who was not represented at court, was jailed for 16 weeks but his prison sentence was suspended for two years.

He must take part in rehabilitation activities and complete 150 hours of unpaid work.

Magistrates also made a restraining order banning him from contacting his victim or from visiting a number of addresses for the next two years.

Provan must pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £128.
