A suspect was Tasered after attacking two Wellingborough police constables during a chase through the town yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).

Officers arrested a 21-year-old man and two teenagers aged 15 and 16 following a 999 call to reports of three people with weapons outside a house in West Street.

Northamptonshire Police revealed the trio were tracked to a nearby street where officers later recovered Class A drugs.

Police used a Taser after being attacked during a chase through Wellingborough

A force spokesman said: "We deployed following reports of people with weapons in West Street at around 1.30pm on Tuesday (February 2) and tracked the suspects to an address in Bassetts Court where one of them assaulted two of our officers.

"He was Tasered and Class A drugs also recovered from the arrest.

"A 21-year-old man and two boys aged 15 and 16 were all arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries."

The incident came just days after Chief Constable Nick Adderley revealed one of his officers was nearly killed by a raging thug trying to strangle him during a disturbance in Corby — but was saved when a colleague Tasered the attacker.
