This month at Northampton Magistrates' Court the 31-year-old was spared from a prison sentence.

Magistrates sentenced her to a community order and told her she would have to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.

Anderson, of Dolben Avenue in Stanwick, admitted the theft of £40.

A police spokesman said that over the course of several weeks about £120 went missing, although no further charges were brought.

Magistrates told Anderson to pay compensation of £180.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: “Charlene Anderson was in a position of trust when she stole this money from a very vulnerable person who was relying on her for care.

“This was a shameful act and we really hope Anderson thinks long and hard about what she has done in order to make better choices in the future.”
